Autonomechanics

January 9, 2010

Have I mentioned I’ve been living alone for the past week?? John Montrose was called to duty. He shipped off last Saturday to Rochester, where he’ll be serving for the next three weeks. We’ve had spotty correspondences: a few love-texts; the occasional voice message detailing the harsh northern cold; some emails I plan to keep under my pillow until his return. Hopefully the independent film he’s making will bring everyone closer to freedom, democracy, and justice.

In other news: still don’t like autonomics, or this cardiovascular stuff. Reading the textbook is like reading a car manual… I mean… yeah, I get it… but… um… couldn’t there be a plot… or something…? Instead of studying, I invested my time/energy/brain into making a video for our student faculty show. (Stay tuned for uncensored med school vulgarity, at its vulgarist, brought to you by SUNY D’s second years).

In other other news: I just got off the phone with my friend Liz. She’s wandering the country. Last summer she moved to Portland, Oregon. In the Fall she sailed on a boat – or shall we say,  sea vessel – down the east coast. Next she went camping by herself in Tennessee. Now she’s in New Mexico on a farm for a few weeks. I’m not sure what kind of farm it is, but I know that it’s at  7000 feet above sea level, there’s a kitten named Oliver, and Liz will be combing goats for cashmere during her stay. She starts combing on Sunday. I’ve been living vicariously through her for about seven months.  Does anyone know if there are goats in Brooklyn?

On that note…
