Catch and Cut – episode 2

This week I explored the different ways to be a klutz in the Labor and Delivery department. The EKG tabs wouldn’t stick to the patient; the paper jammed, so it looked like she was having a heart attack when I pulled the sheets out of the machine; and don’t forget to plug the damn thing in.

Also, if you’re right-handed, learn what a left handed speculum looks like ahead of time…

Perhaps uncertainty is just part of the learning curve in the beginning.

On a positive note, I got a decent history from a patient. At least I’m good at asking questions.

Goal for next week: Learn Haitian Creole so I can talk to more patients.
