The internet, in alphabetical order

April 15, 2010

A google experiement

I typed a single letter in search on google to see the first word on dropdown list. Here are the research findings –

Amazon

Bank of America

Craigslist

Dictionary

Ebay

Facebook

Gmail

Hotmail

Ikea

Jet blue

Kelly Blue book

LIRR (Lady Gaga came in a close second)

Myspace

Nj Transit

Optonline.net

Plotzk

Qvc

Raymour and flanigan

Skype

Target

USPS

Verizon Wireless

Weather

Xbox 360

Youtube

Zappos

Conclusion: The weather and dictionaries are timeless institutions. Also, people like to communicate, spend money, play videogames, and travel.

More data collection is needed to compare these results with those in other beautiful exotic places. If anyone knows of grants that would fund an extension my work by sending me to these research sites, please let me know.
