Sent from the future

November 17, 2010

Daydreaming on the internet — fuel the flames of any fantasy, and convince yourself it already exists.

Last night I saw what life will be like if I move to the capital of Mongolia – Ulaanbaatar, pop. approx 1 million.

The day before that I learned that if I become a surgeon, I will be part of the 19% of surgeons who are women. Pro – Shorter bathroom lines for the first time in my life. Con – No windows in the OR.

Then again, if I go into family medicine – I could have my DREAM JOB, which I found on physicianjobs.cejkasearch.com:

Do you want a dependable schedule with an excellent work-life balance? Are you tired of fighting with insurance companies? Do you want patients who are very motivated participants in their health care? California Prison Health Care Services seeks passionate primary care physicians to restore a constitutional level of care to 170,000 inmates and create the new standard for institutionalized health care. You’ll showcase your knowledge, initiative and leadership skills and be part of a close-knit community.

“Restore a constitutional level of care” seems like it’s setting the bar pretty low. Does that mean that their current level of care is so bad as to be unconstitutional?

Good point Alan. My favorite: “You’ll showcase your knowledge, initiative and leadership skills and be part of a close-knit community.” They’re close-knit because they CAN’T LEAVE! Oy. Who wrote this? Genius level flack.
